Visiting the Middle East was a great experience and opportunity for me to share the sport of softball and build relationships with some of the most wonderful and powerful leaders in the region. I had the opportunity to meet with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed of the United Arabic Emirates about women's issues and opportunities for growth in softball and sport. I also traveled to Amman, Jordan and met with HRH Prince Feisal bin-Al Hussein, and his brother of King Abdullah II of Jordan. Prince Feisal sits on the Back Softball Task Force with me and it was great to meet with him and talk about the future of our sport. King Abdullah of Jordan is very proactive in current issues of today's World and for women. The King is a big supporter of educating today's children from around the world and giving them opportunities to meet one another to understand and realize that as humans we are 80% similar no matter what our race or religious differences might be. He flew us to his 'King's Academy" Prep School so I could talk with the students and share my story. It was a great experience to fly in his personal helicopter! I look forward to returning to the Middle East region to continue to share the great story of softball and opportunities for women to help build a more tolerant and stabile relationship between the East and the West. __________________ Bye for now!
